Quick Knit: The Bellwoods Hat
When winter comes and your favorite hat goes missing, it’s time to knit up a warm replacement—fast!
Sometimes, you just need to knit yourself a winter hat like yesterday. Seriously—this one only took me two evenings to whip up! ✨👌
The temperature here in New York is dropping fast, and my favorite Oslo Hat (that I knit two years ago) is... somewhere. I’ve torn my house apart looking for it, but no luck so far. In the meantime, my ears needed saving, so I decided to cast on a new project.
Enter: the Bellwoods Hat by Jennifer of Pairs Well With Knitting! It’s a simple, no-fuss pattern knit in the round with a cozy broken rib stitch. Perfect for those “I need something warm, now” moments.
Also, can we talk about the yarn? I picked up Lion Brand’s Wool Ease Roving Origins in the colorway “Olive” during a trip to Michael’s. It’s a single-ply aran weight that’s totally giving Lettloppi—except it’s much softer and way more next-to-skin friendly. Bonus points for being affordable and easy to grab locally!
As for the shape, I wasn’t sure how I felt about the slightly gnome-like silhouette at first, but it grew on me fast. (And let’s be real: it’s warm, and that’s what matters!)
This hat is already seeing a lot of wear, and I’m loving it. Fingers crossed my Oslo Hat turns up soon (ETA: I found it!😅), but in the meantime, this one is holding down the fort.✨
