Shadow-Play Quilt
Pattern from "Quilts In Ireland" by Kaffe Fassett
My Shadow-Play Quilt is done! The pattern is from Quilts In Ireland by Kaffe Fassett — it was so fun to deviate from my usual aesthetic and play with these crazy colors and prints.
Kaffe Fassett’s style never really appealed to me but, after flipping through this book, I felt inspired by his use of color and got the urge to venture out of my comfort zone. Not to mention, I snagged this book for a steal at Joann Fabrics!
The finished quilt isn’t my style but I love it, just the same. Working with such vibrant prints was a great exercise and gave me a newfound appreciation for Kaffe. If you’re stuck in a creative rut I defintiely recommend giving something like this a try! It’s certainly opened my mind to experimenting with unexpected color combinations.
As for the quilting, I free-motion quilted it on my Juki, tracing the oval prints of the fabric. 🖤
Also, I tried to up my quilt photography game. If anyone has a horse or tracktor I could borrow for the next photoshoot, give me a call! 😂
